Nurturing A Well Mind

Welcome to
My Wellmind

I guess you have reached my website because you are looking for support. We can spend much of our time thinking about others, helping others, looking after others, but what about us? What about you?

Maybe you are curious as you have never had therapy before. Maybe you have. Maybe you are struggling with a life event from the past, a current circumstance or are worried about the future.

Maybe you are grieving the loss of a loved one, the impact of earlier childhood trauma,  or the ending of a relationship, the loss of good health, friendships or identity. Maybe you are feeling stuck, anxious or depressed?

Maybe I can help?

Whatever the reason for reaching my website I would like to reassure you that you are not alone. Many people struggle at times throughout their lives and sometimes it helps to reach out and talk problems through with a qualified and trained counsellor.

About Me

I am a qualified counsellor based in Stockport and Oldham. I am fully insured and a registered member of the British Association of Counselling and Psychotherapy (BACP), working within their ethical guidelines and have an up-to-date enhanced DBS.

I am passionate about connecting with people. It has been a privilege to have worked with and supported children, young people and their families in my career as a teacher before specialising in supporting people through counselling.

I recognise neurodiversity and the unique and natural ways our brains work. I have an understanding of autism, ADHD, dyslexia, dyspraxia and other neurological conditions. Some of us may not recognise our differences or be aware why acting neurotypically or ‘masking’ can cause extra pressure, stress and depression or may lead to mental health struggles.

How I Can Help

I understand the pressures we can experience at times throughout our lives. Life can seem overwhelming with little time or space to consider how we are feeling or how we might overcome the challenges that cause us sadness, confusion, anxiety, anger or doubt.

It might feel daunting to meet and trust someone new, but by taking this first step might help you to focus, make changes and unlock the possibilities to becoming mentally healthier and happier.

People would describe me as warm, genuine and non-judgemental. I am passionate about offering you empathy and compassion and a chance for you to explore why you might be feeling lost or stuck.

Working together can enable us to develop a clearer understanding of your present concerns and barriers. As an integrative counsellor I am trained in humanistic, behavioural and psychodynamic modalities such as Person Centred therapy (PCT), Cognitive Behaviour therapy (CBT) and Transactional Analysis (TA).

I can offer you a confidential space to talk, a space to think, a space and a time for you. By offering a different perspective, I can help you to find your own solutions to your current difficulties and empower you to find ‘the you, in you’.

At times throughout our lives, we may need to rely on others. Sometimes we may find issues too uncomfortable or too painful to discuss. We often talk about the ‘elephant in the room’ when we are unable to share difficult or raw emotions but talking to a trained counsellor might help you to unlock these thoughts, feelings or emotions.

A Calm Space

Here at My Wellmind you will find a non-judgemental space where you can feel safe, heard, understood and valued. I can help you to talk about what is going on for you right now and help you to gain more clarity and a way through your current issues.

We often place great importance and focus on physical health but our emotional health and wellbeing is just as important and can often be overlooked. We often like to show others how we look on the outside but we hide away what’s going on inside, even from ourselves.

We choose to suffer in silence or put on a brave face, but here at My Wellmind you will have an opportunity and a space to talk and get to the root of why you might be finding life difficult.

As counsellors, we can never promise that you will find all the answers to your problems but what I can promise is that in our work together you will find empathy, non-judgement and genuineness. You can choose whatever goals you seek, whether this is being able to get to know the real you, learn greater self-compassion, find inner strength and inner peace.

Session and Fees

Counselling sessions will normally be weekly and can be short or long term, depending on the issues you would like resolving and how deep they run.

Initial fees

Do not worry if you are not sure how many sessions you will need as we can talk this through. I offer a free initial 30-minute consultation so that we can begin to understand what has brought you to therapy and to see if I am the right counsellor for you.

As part of the counselling process it is important that you find the right counsellor. On first meeting, you may not feel I am the right fit for you or I may suggest a referral to a different counsellor or another service, if that would be more suitable. Ethically I would never work with you if I was not able to provide the therapy you need.

If we decide to continue our work together I offer day and evening 50-minute individual face to face appointments. If you live further afield or if you feel therapy will work best for you in the comfort of your own surroundings, I also offer online sessions. I also offer ‘walk and talk’ therapy since some people find therapy outdoors to be more therapeutic for them.

Sessions are £55 and can be short or long term.
